Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Below are resources for students, staff and faculty relating to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Statistics Faculty Equity Advisors

The Faculty Equity Advisor acts as a liaison between the Department of Statistics and the campus and interprets and works to implement policies that relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Faculty Equity Advisor has the important role of ensuring that equity and inclusion are considered in all aspects of the department's mission including faculty searches, faculty advancement and retention, graduate student admission, graduate fellowship nominations, graduate retention, undergraduate opportunity and retention, and departmental climate.

All undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and staff who have a question or want to discuss any issue related to departmental equity and inclusion are encouraged to contact the Department of Statistics’ Faculty Equity Advisor:

Shirshendu Ganguly (Equity Advisor for Faculty, Staff, and Non-Student Academic Titles)

Elizabeth Purdom (Equity Advisor for Students)

Reporting Incidents of Intolerance or Harassment

Our community endeavors to be a place where everyone feels safe and included. Still, there are times when we find ourselves in need to report something we have experienced or observed. If you have experienced or observed an act of intolerance, harassment and/or violence at UC Berkeley, we encourage you to file a report.

Hate Crimes and Hate-Motivated Acts

You may file a report anonymously or by name on the UC Systemwide Intolerance Reporting Form. You may also choose to file a report with UCPD in 1 Sproul Hall, 510-642-6760 (non emergency) if you experience or observe a Hate Crime.

Visit UC Berkeley's incident reporting website for links to reporting incidents and to find more information about:

  • What is a hate crime?
  • What do I do if I become a target of, or witness, a hate crime or hate-motivated act?
  • Will the University take action?
